When ARTstor and local image collections don’t have the exact image you’re looking for, Google Images can be a lifesaver. However, one of the main complaints I hear about Google Images is the time it takes to find the “right” image from within hundreds or even thousands of results. Now, Google is making it easier to sort through that avalanche of images with Google Images with Sorting, a new feature that allows you to sort your image results by subject!
Keep in mind that broader search terms will generate more subject categories. Here is a screen shot from my search for “Henri Matisse” which has been sorted by subject.
